Another name for the baroque Liu Family Mansion is the Minxiong Ghost House. It's one of the most well-known haunted places in Taiwan. The Ghost House is located close to Chiayi in a rural area. The Liu Family unexpectedly left the mansion, and since then, the three-story house has grown overgrown with plants on the outside. No one has lived there.

Numerous tales exist regarding the precise reason behind the Liu Family's departure. Popular stories include the madness of the Liu matriarch due to a romance involving a maid. Another describes Japanese soldiers during World War II seeing ghosts. Although the reality is uncertain, the Liu Family Mansion's legendary reputation is undeniable.
13. Orphanage of Holy Family

Early in the 20th century, the Holy Family Orphanage was constructed for a cost of $100,000, or more than $2.5 million in modern currency. 200 youngsters without parents were sheltered in the Michigan orphanage. Only children between the ages of 8 and 14 were initially allowed, but later on, Holy Family welcomed younger children as well.

The Roman Catholic Diocese colonized and forcibly assimilated people through Holy Family. Sixty Native American children were abducted from their homes in 1914 and placed in an orphanage where they were adopted by white families after being assimilated. Only white children were permitted, save from Native youngsters.
